British Airways will offer free high-speed onboard internet through satellite deal

Passengers flying with this carrier are set to use quick internet during flights without charge after a major agreement involving SpaceX's space provider.

Free and Quick Internet Across the Board

The carrier announced that the no-cost, “quick and reliable” connectivity offering from the satellite provider is set to be offered to travelers in economy, premium economy, and first class starting next month.

Expanded Implementation Over Various Airlines

The umbrella organization for the airline, IAG, confirmed it had secured an agreement involving SpaceX for providing connectivity coverage on 500-plus planes across their airlines, such as Aer Lingus, the Spanish carrier, plus Vueling.

Smooth Internet from Gate through Arrival

British Airways explained that this rollout of this system formed part of a seven billion pound “upgrade” plan that will offer smooth wifi access for travelers starting at the gate to landing, including when in flight across oceans and remote regions.

Passengers may hook up several gadgets while they will not have to use a unique password.

“Gamechanging for the airline and our customers, enhancing the journey onboard on BA by giving customers smooth connectivity from start to finish.”

Present Wifi Options

Basic internet service remains provided for BA passengers through the majority of its jets using its .air service.

Enrollees in the airline's frequent flyer program may transmit messages and plain-text correspondence during flights at no cost, whereas travelers who want to access music, films, or content throughout the journey if not travelling in first class might pay between £4.99 to twenty-one pounds ninety-nine for a connectivity plan.

SpaceX’s Network

Starlink maintains a system of thousands with satellites and is operated under SpaceX’s aerospace firm.

Ongoing Improvements for British Airways

The airline's executive team are striving to turn British Airways again following years with financial constraints, IT problems, industrial action, and staff cuts.

British Airways stated that use with artificial intelligence contributed to it to reach the airline's on-time performance at the best levels from over a decade ago.

Earnings Outlook

In August, British Airways announced a jump in financial performance for the first six months of the year, contributing to IAG’s results higher.

The group is due to announce the results covering Q3 from July to September on Friday.

Additional Satellite Agreements

The airline's update follows days following mobile phone provider Virgin Media O2 said it was working alongside Starlink to boost wireless coverage in the countryside across the United Kingdom, letting users to easily connect phones via satellites in the absence of regular cellular service exists.
