New York Attorney General Charged With Criminal Bank Fraud Indictment
A federal grand jury has indicted the New York attorney general over allegations of financial misconduct on Thursday, per someone with knowledge of the case.
The US attorney for the eastern district of Virginia handled the presentation of the case to the grand jury this Thursday, according to the source.
US attorneys do not typically present to such panels.
Halligan was appointed the position recently following the president grew impatient over the speed of investigations targeting political opponents.
The move is the president’s latest effort to weaponize federal justice authorities to penalize adversaries.
This occurs 14 days following Halligan secured charges involving Comey.
Career prosecutors prepared a memo regarding that situation outlining the reasons charges were not warranted.
Comey pleaded not guilty this past Wednesday.
